Hello.

I'm Jenny Gillette, founder of Humankind Editorial.

For more than 20 years, I've helped authors, educators, researchers, and organizations strengthen their writing without losing what makes it their own. My background includes editing curriculum and educational materials, academic work, nonfiction manuscripts, student application essays, reports, and long-form projects requiring careful attention to clarity, consistency, and voice.

I founded Humankind Editorial because I believe something simple: Tools evolve. Good writing endures.

The way we create content is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence is now an everyday part of many writers' workflows, just as spell-check, search engines, and word processors have changed the way writing is approached. But strong communication still depends on human judgment. Meaning, nuance, tone, organization, and audience awareness remain deeply human concerns.

Whether a piece is drafted traditionally or developed with the help of new technologies, it deserves thoughtful review and careful editing. My goal is not to impose a voice but to help authors communicate more clearly, confidently, and effectively in their own.

Clients describe me as collaborative, detail-oriented, and “a joy to work with.” I don’t know about that last one, but I do approach every project with curiosity, respect, and the belief that editing works best as a partnership.

Based in my beloved hometown of Cleveland, I work remotely with clients across a variety of disciplines and industries and time zones.

If you have a project you'd like to discuss, I'd love to hear about it.
